So we decided to put that choice front and centre.
Every birthday party starts with the same question: where should we have it?
For kids, the answer is easy. Somewhere they can run wild, eat cake, and cause a level of chaos that would be unacceptable on any other day of the year.
For parents, they can’t eat cake and have it too.
Because while kids leave a birthday party with memories, parents usually leave with a cleanup.
So we decided to make that decision a little easier.
We launched Your Place Or Ours?, a playful reminder that while kids remember the party, parents remember the aftermath.
Rather than compete with at-home parties on decorations, themes, or party packages, we focused on what happens when the party is actually a success. Toys everywhere, cushions nowhere, and living rooms that looked like they'd hosted twenty sugar-fuelled children.
Through a series of visuals showing homes that had clearly survived a children's birthday party, we turned a familiar sight into a persuasive argument. Then we simply asked: Your Place Or Ours?
After all, if the kids are going to create a mess either way, shouldn't it be ours?
